The driver of the truck, Steven Zimvler, said he was driving on I-75 south just before the Hartley Bridge Road when a car hydroplaned into a transfer truck and then back into his lane. The car struck his truck in the right rear as he tried to avoid it. Zimvler’s truck turned over in the road and came to rest in the breakdown lane under the Hartley Bridge Road bridge.

Macon-Bibb County firefighters are battle a major fire at the scene of the old A.L. Miller School on Montpelier Avenue. Firefighters arrived on the scene at about 12:30 AM where they found fire in the old gymnasium, said assistant chief Shane Edwards.

NASA ER-2 pilot Stu Broce, Meat, sits in his pressurized flight suit before his 8-hour flight Wednesday. Broce breathes pure oxygen for one hour before his flight to remove all the nitrogen from his blood. The suit is similar to the space suits that astronauts use in space flights.

Mattie Hardin gets walked by Boone, her 3-year-old yellow Labrador retriever, along Cherry Street. Hardin said that they take a 2 to 3 mile walk each day and that Boone is known by his neighbors as the self walking dog.
